Homework.. homework

Why should WE as children work in a monotonous pace?

Why does life for students have to be:

Eat, school, homework, shower, sleep.. and eat.. school...

As children / teenagers, we should have the time and space to meet our needs of self-actualisation (eg.creativity). Our aim to live on this world is NOT only to survive, but also to realise our potential and talents. If we always continue to work in a repetitve pace, this would only demotivate us in learning at school. We wouldn't be able to learn anything out of school and that's just pointless.

I think we should have the choice of doing homework. (Eg. Only do subjects you are interested in) I mean.. what's the point in doing something you don't like? You just won't work and learn as efficient as something you're really interested in.. True?

I do agree with some of what you said. After all, homework is now pretty worthless due to the internet. After all my big passion is art, i only ever had 12 art lessons all of last academic year.

Yeh, um.... :D

It is not others who make your life monotonous, it is you yourself. For instance, you can either choose to stay at home, or go out to do whatever you want. It's your choice.

And the choice of subjects? They are given because we need to acquire the basics, and if we would like to further study a particular subject, it would be easier.

You also mentioned that there doesn't seem to be a point in doing something we don't like. That's not the case. We do it because we have no choice. For example, look at a working adult with a low pay job he doesn't want. Do you think he had a choice? No. There are many reasons how one can land in an undesirable job, and one is because there's a need. In the adult's case, money. Why don't the adult just say, "What's the point in doing a job I don't like?" Ask yourself, think about it.

Well...I sort of agree with anonymous...not like we have a choice...by the way...what's your religion?

Totally agree with Anonymous. Everything does indeed boils down to a choice. You choose what to eat, you choose what courses you want to take in the future etc.

When things get tough, the tough gets going. Well for me, Mathematics is one area which I dislike doing and revising. It's still, a choice whether I want to practice and go a higher level, or just stay the way you are.

It's hard to choose to like something you don't like. It's hard to choose to do something you hate to. But it's all choices that brings us forward.

Let's make the right choices together! What's good for us, that is.

"And the choice of subjects? They are given because we need to acquire the basics, and if we would like to further study a particular subject, it would be easier." I don't really get why we need to study English literature (a compulsory subject) if I am not even planning to write like Shakespeare or write books and novels. It is simply a waste of time for me studying this subject. My point is: there is no point studying something you won't enjoy or is not something practical and useful for your future career and ambition.

Something like Science, particularly Biology, a subject I enjoy will be something that is worth studying because I am planning to be a Doctor when I grow up.

Besides.. that's why we get to choose our subjects.. We're meant to pick the subjects that aid us in our future career or subjects that we enjoy studying.

English Literature is a compulsory subject here but there is real need for me in studying this as I am not planning to write like Shakespeare or CS Lewis or .. bla bla
